Ayutthaya Boat and Travel has always been committed to providing tours that are sustainable and responsible. This means trying to keep our carbon footprint as small as possible. To do this we like to limit our use of private transport and use public and shared transport whenever possible.
This has the added bonus of bringing our clients into contact with the local ‘Thai people; all part of the community-based experience. This trip to Ayutthaya does just that, using trains, bikes a boat and tuk tuks.
Board the train to Ayutthaya at Hualamphong train station at 08.00 and enjoy the changing scenery as the train leaves the big city and heads out into the countryside. Arrive in Ayutthaya City, a UNESCO World Heritage site, at about 09.40. Set off by local rocket-nosed tuk tuk to the first stop, Wat Yai Chai Mongkul, the temple the most magnificent stupa in Ayutthaya. After that it is just a short ride to the Ayutthaya Boat and Travel office to check your bicycle is ready for you to set off on your bike tour of the great historic sites.
The tour will include the famous Buddha head in the root of a tree at Wat Mahatat and the peaceful reclining Buddha at Wat Logayasutharam. After lunch a local restaurant, cycle back to the Ayutthaya Boat office before experiencing life on the waterways as you take a boat trip around the Ayutthaya City island of Ayutthaya, learning about the different cultures living in peace as you pass by Catholic Churches, mosques and Buddhist temples. Make one stop along the way to see Wat Chai Wattanaram, the most beautiful of all temples left from the 17th century. Get off the boat by the train station pier and get ready for your train journey back to Bangkok, arriving back at Hualamphong safe and sound at around 18.00.
